About Us

KAMAL KABETO

Executive Director

Making a difference in the world may seem like an enormous task, but, in fact, a collective effort of everyone to make small contributions with a lot of heart is what it takes and is all that is needed. I continue to be inspired to do Mako Foundation’s work because of the overwhelming joy and satisfaction that I feel in my soul and in my heart to seeing people we help being happy and to seeing their eyes fill with hope. What is your true calling? What is you purpose? For me that discovery came through my work for Mako’s —- extending yourself in kindness to other human beings whenever you can.

HARUN ABDA

Director of Operations

I had an opportunity to come to the USA and live “the American dream” but I have always remembered my life before I come here and where I came from. I have a passion to give back maybe provide an opportunity to those who are not lucky enough to have the education I have given or just live a simple and comfortable life. As an ex-profession Nike runner for years, life has given me many obstacles and barriers but also help me to develop the passion to inspire, assist to help others make their life better. Mako foundation gave me an opportunity to give back and help me create the positive change for others that I always wanted it.

ABBABIYA KABETO

Director of Finance

At the beginning of our foundation, all I wanted to do was to be able to reach out and help. I wanted the organization to stay small and effective. As the years go by, I realized that Mako Foundation is more than just helping the needy. It was also helping a community to get together for a common cause. To do something that it is forever going to be proud of. Something that will continue into the next generation. Through my position, I am able to bring my analytical talents in managing our funds, balancing our budgets, and ensuring ways we can make the biggest monetary impact on those we work with.

TURI SADO

Director of Development

At a very tender age, I had witnessed the many struggles and hardships most citizens were experiencing in Ethiopia. After I came to America, I was always thinking back and wondering what to do for the unfortunate people I left behind. Thanks to a few close friends and family, I was able to become one of the founding members of Mako Foundation and was finally able to make my dream a reality.

Temam Kabeto

Director of Public Relations

When I was introduced to the Mako Foundation several years ago, I was immediately drawn to its mission and felt compelled to contribute as an active member. It was a true honor and thrilling opportunity when I was asked to join the Board. Since then, I have dedicated a great deal of time and effort to ensure that our promised support for families in need is delivered with care and compassion. I am proud to be a part of such a worthwhile cause and have never regretted my decision to serve on the Board.
